3rd graders do monthly book talks. They can do whatever they want - from just talking to making a movie - about any book they would like. Max picked making a diorama about Tom Sawyer. He came up with the concept, carefully picked supplies at Michaels, and worked to get ahead this weekend so we don't have to do it all next. Today he got everything except the tombstones and coffin completed, and next weekend he will add facts about characters and setting to the sides of the box to cover the shoe logos. Love his work ethic and self-directed-ness.
