The kids did not find being awoken to "School's Out for Summer," complete with a sing along from Mom, to be a delightful way to start the last day of school. Too bad for them! We took our last day of school photos, then wrote thank you notes for all of the teachers while we drove Dad to his office, enjoyed delicious homemade sausage biscuits, and then headed in for the LAST day of 3rd and 5th grade.
This year was less chaotic than last year. The good parts - more days in school, more play dates, more extracurriculars - kept building this year. We are impressed by how far both kids came in their writing, their public speaking, and especially their math thinking. They each took on new sports, built strong ties with new friends, and - perhaps most importantly - got great reviews from their teachers for being good citizens and leaders in the classroom. It's hard to believe we'll have a kiddo in her last year of the Lower School next year and a REAL middle/Upper Schooler in 6th. I know time doesn't fly when you're the one in school, but it sure does when you're cheering from the sidelines. So proud of both Max and Evelyn, and can't wait to exhale with some summer fun!
